IDG-Study Internet of Things 2018

Background to the study

Networked devices, connected cars or machinery that call their service technicians themselves – the Internet of Things will revolutionise our world.

IoT based networking will enable the successful transformation of processes from product to service to platform.

IoT as a key technology

In the digital age, Internet of Things (IoT) technology is the basis and the driver of innovation. It allows people to significantly increase their scope of activity by integrating a range of devices / machines and systems, wherever these might be located, efficiently into any process required.
In discussions with customers and potential users, we find that people are always interested, but they also ask the same kinds of questions: How have other companies approached the subject? What areas of application are likely to promise the most success? Were the projects successful, and what lessons were learned?
Besides our own perspectives, which are based on years of experience in designing and implementing IoT applications, it is important for us to be able to draw on neutral data that are representative of the broadest possible spectrum across the entire market. For this reason, we decided to take part this year in IDG’s Internet of Things study as a sponsor and contributor.

Realising potential

The study analyses how the companies surveyed rate the level of maturity of IoT and the possible scope for application. It soon became clear from the study's key findings that the topic is gaining more and more momentum, and that its success is also increasingly measurable.

From Connected Factory and Connected Field Service to interactive retail applications, a wide range of practical applications is emerging. We at alnamic AG would be pleased to offer you specific advice on how you, too, could tap into this potential.
