Mission accomplished! On Sunday evening at around 7.15 our time, Lina Rixgens realised her big dream, becoming the first female German sailor in the history of the Mini-Transat regatta to reach the finishing line on Martinique.
Lina had been working single-mindedly towards this moment for two years – and now, even though she can still hardly believe it herself, she's done it. 4,050 nautical miles in two stages, and a total of 30 days and 22 hours alone on the open sea make this a quite remarkable achievement.
On our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/alnamic/) are lots more articles and pictures describing how the regatta unfolded. Even now, looking back, it’s exciting just to reflect on some of the things that happened. From the start on 1st November to Lina's arrival, a lot happened.
We’d also like to thank everyone who supported her project and helped make her success possible. Lina has now well and truly earned a break in the form of a few weeks’ relaxation on Martinique.
On her website Lina has published an impressive account of what she went through and how she felt.
