Kabelwerk Rhenania GmbH, headquartered in Aachen, Germany, is a medium-sized company that develops and manufactures custom fibre optic cables according to customer specifications.
They create colour-coded fibres in up to 24 colours based on the customer’s needs in bundles of various colours. They then twist, coat and wind them onto a drum. This creates a fibre-optic cable with varying fibre counts. Next, they test the cable against customer specifications and standards, issue a test certificate and deliver the product.
Increased manual effort in data entry and external influences such as late delivery of raw material present a challenge for production planning and timely fulfilment.
It was important to Rhenania to replace the custom solution in the production planning area with the standardised use of Dynamics AX. These requirements have been met with the implementation of Avantgarde High-Tech for Dynamics AX, which displays relevant company processes with the available expertise, independent of individual employees.
